A DQ DAY!

This weekend we had two great days of rehearsal. We’re actually starting with the last scene of the play and are working backwards through the show. We finished three of the MERRILY transitions along with the last two and half scenes of the show. Nice beginning.

The hardest thing is always getting started, getting everyone acclimated with the playground of the show. The basic set piece is a grand piano. That's it. We play it, lay on it, and make it part of the world. And we have lots of folks practicing piano on their break so that they are ready to play on stage during the show.

It was great hearing the song OUR TIME on Saturday and staging it. It brought back memories of my own beginning. Everyone got a bit choked up in the room. That’s what I love about this show — it will creep up on folks when they least expect it.

After that, we needed something to get us through the rest of the day so we sent music director Jon K to Dairy Queen to get us Dilly Bars. We needed it.
