Dancing all night: Part 2
MY FAIR LADY Day 13
September 12, 2006
Today we began staging Act II. Where Act I took us almost two weeks, Act II is almost done. It’s significantly shorter than Act I, and is made up of much smaller scenes. Of course, we still have to add in “I’m Getting Married in the Morning” — an epic number that spans several locations and includes a dance break that must be close to five minutes long. Karma and much of the cast having been working hard on the number in another space, while Eric and a small group have been rehearsing the rest of the show in Signature’s rehearsal room. On Wednesday we’ll finish the act then spend some much needed time fleshing out the smaller scenes between Eliza and Higgins. Small is probably not the right word to use when describing these scenes. While they include fewer actors then most of the scenes in Act I, they’re some of the most complex scenes in the show. Things are coming together nicely and in four days we’ll begin the tech process, a scary thought, but after today’s rehearsal ,I can say with confidence that we’ll be in good shape by then.
