WELCOMING HAMLET
It's been an exciting week at Signature as we welcomed the Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv to our MAX Theatre. Their production of HAMLET (performed in Hebrew with screened English translations) is a totally original experience — an approach to Shakespeare that's refreshing and new. It's wonderful seeing the audience swivel in their seats following the tales of HAMLET as it's staged all over the theater. Omri Nitzan, the director, has been a welcome face here along with his talented staff and cast. It's been a great rush of energy in the building and exciting to have an international company with us for the first time in Signature history. While the production is sold-out, definitely try to get in the cancellation line that starts one-hour before every show as it’s an event you won't want to miss.
Check out the review from today’s Washington Post.
Signature is presenting this production of HAMLET as part of the city-wide Shakespeare in Washington Festival. Coming up next month, we're producing a cabaret titled "Singing Shakespeare" -- an evening of songs from American musicals based on the writings of Shakespeare, such as WEST SIDE STORY, KISS ME KATE, and THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE. Since all performances for this special cabaret are already sold out, we're looking into the possibility of adding a 2:00pm matinee on Sunday, April 8. We'll keep you posted.
