THE FIRST WEEK

Sorry it’s been a while on the updates.

It has been a crazy week to say the least. Due to some technical complications, we had to cancel the first preview last Tuesday. We just weren’t ready. It was the smartest move. The show is so complicated. But to make it seamless, we really need rehearsal, rehearsal, rehearsal. It needs to run smooth as silk. After more practice and preparation, we had our first preview last Wednesday. And it went well.

We were having some problems with the flying all of the witches. There are a lot of variables to take into account — the rigging, the slack, the harnesses. It just takes patience. Everyone has been great about it though. Right now, we have two of the witches flying and we’ve adjusted some lines so it doesn't seem odd. But ultimately, we’ve solved the problem, and by this week, everyone will be flying high.

Cameron Mackintosh, the producer from the London production, was here over the weekend checking up on the show. He was very pleased. He couldn't believe what we’ve done with four weeks of rehearsals — including tech.

All of the new material is going over like gangbusters. And even more wonderful is the audience response — laughter, roars, bellows, and bravos! The audiences are loving it.

Tickets are starting to fly out of the box office. It’s pretty terrific when audience members go right to the box office after the production to buy additional tickets to come see it again! We're all very encouraged by the responses.

We’re putting in some new material tomorrow night and then getting the show ready for the critics this weekend.
