MORE ACE REHEARSALS & THE ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE

We are now into week two of rehearsals for ACE. It’s been a fun and very exciting process. Robert Taylor, the librettist, is in the room with us every day making changes to the script as we continue to discover new things about telling this story. Richard and Robert’s script provides a lot of challenges for staging because it is so cinematic, but this structure makes the piece unique and unlike any other musical you’ve seen at Signature. Scenes blend together and the musical relies heavily on transitions as we jump from the 1950’s back in time to the turn of the century and World War II. It’s a challenge, but is shaping up to be a very special piece of theater. Back home in Shirlington the shop is in overdrive, loading in one of the most technically elaborate sets you’ve seen. And in New York, Bob Perdziola’s beautiful costumes are being constructed to bring the ACE characters to life.

This weekend was our annual Open House. It was a great day. Over 4000 people came through the doors of Signature Theatre to enjoy our many free events, with even more attending our final outdoor concert featuring many familiar Signature faces.

Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate the start of what we are positive will be the most exciting season yet! Here are a few pictures of the day’s events.
