ACEING

It's been a crazy, crazy week at Signature. We had our final dress on Tuesday and our first public performance on Wednesday. The performances went really well and we learned a lot. That is what this whole process is about — seeing and feeling the audience reactions as we make changes to the show.

Today is a big day. We’re adding a new opening, a new second number, character deletions from the show, internal cuts in scenes and songs, along with some restaging. We're all pumped for the changes and for the show tonight. Last night, actors were given new lyrics to memorize for today and that included some new music.

This is the process of making a new musical — having the opportunity to make it the best it can be. The company is psyched and ready. Last night’s response was very positive to the changes that went in, jumping to their feet at curtain call.

We're all doing really good work to make a very exciting new piece of musical theater. We have one more set of changes going in tomorrow afternoon before we freeze the show. Our theme song right now should be ch, ch, ch, changes…
