A BLOODY GOOD TIME

Today we begin tech for INISHMORE and the cast is very eager to jump on to the stage and add all the new technical elements.

The shop is working quickly in The ARK to get all the final touches on the set before the cast arrives this afternoon. In the intimate ARK space, the set isn't very large, but don't let that fool you. There are a lot of intricate details. It's probably the most complicated prop show we have done in a while.

Our prop master Eileen has been given the task of not only working with set designer Dan Conway to decorate and furnish an Irish cabin, but she is also in charge of all the gun and blood affects. Eileen and the costume shop have been doing tests to figure out what is the best way to make the blood so that it looks real and will come out of the costumes at the end of every show. They also have to take into account what will be able to shoot out of the blood cannons that are placed throughout the set. On top of that, they need to make sure it won't run down the raked stage. Did we mention there is a lot of blood in this play?

We are all so anxious to see the blood effects in action. They will add a whole new challenge and exciting dimension to the show. And did I also mention that it adds a whole other level of comedy? Blood and comedy? By now you must think I've lost my mind. I guess you'll have to come check it out and see for yourself.
