FLYING
When I look back at where we started the week last Wednesday… it was an amazing week. There has been no show at Signature that has gone through such major rewrites in four days. New songs, a new opening, eliminated songs, cut characters out of entire acts, new orchestrations — it has been exhausting but thrilling at the same time!
I am so proud of all the hard work that has been done by everyone. The cast has been just champions of jumping in every night to a new show. It's also thrilling when those same cast members are the ones telling you, “these changes are great.” This really helps the creative team to crystallize the journey. It doesn’t get much better than that.
And then there is the audience… we are truly feeling the response and then connection to the material. When they hunt me down in the lobby to tell me this is a great kick-off to the new season, it makes me proud once again of all the great productions that we have done in this new building.
Tomorrow we open, and we have lots to celebrate and be proud of. Here’s to taking flight!
